Immigration: The Truth about the LIe - CRIME
by Wonderment inimmigration: the truth about the lie: crimecrime: do immigrants increase rates of violence?
there has been a lot of talk about how immigrants pose a threat to the safety of this country by increasing crime rates.
is there any truth to this, or is it "fake news.

It’s good that drug crimes are being brought up on this thread. The US has a huge opioid epedemic, and it seems that compared to many other countries, we just can’t stop getting high!! We’re one of the ONLY nations with televised commercials allowing the big pharma companies to promote their pills. We have a whole generation of drug addled citizens who got hooked on fentanyl and other drugs that were basically PUSHED by various manufacturers. Now, the individual STATES are bringing lawsuits against the big pharma cartels, because the Federal Government doesn’t have the BALLS to take on a major source of their political donations (like what happened with big tobacco).
So...in an effort to find a “bogey-man,” what do we do? We blame those filthy Mexicans for the fact the we just can’t get off drugs. It’s THEIR FAULT.
We have a generation of drug addicted young people, diagnosed with ADHD, who won’t put the X-box down, and won’t stop popping pills. It’s no wonder that most of the people I see in my home state, who are doing road construction, filling pot-holes, or installing roofs, are from other countries.

All but one of the articles posted above by Wonderment specifically addressed just that: illegal, or undocumented immigrants. That would include the one from Fox News.

@ Wonderment:
All good quotes, from credible, fairly mainsteam news sources. Fox was on the list, though it was penned by Alex Nowrasteh, an immigration policy analyst who’s worked for the CATO institute, and other libertarian causes (remember the Tea Party?). He was also a graduate of George Mason University, and the London School of Economics. In other words, he’s too smart to appear on Fox & Friends, or with college dropout, Sean Hannity.
I digress...
The problem is, and will continue to be, a certain loud minority won’t allow themselves to be confused by such facts.
They will come up with ‘alternative’ facts, or go into mental lock-down when confronted by the actual facts. Probably no different than what the still-in, or “PIMI” JWs do when confronted with actual facts about their Org.

The sad part about Trump is it going to take about 7 years for the US to see the effects of his economic policies.
Destroying the economies of your allies and trading partners, screwing the US consumer, inflation and higher interest rates.Good point. Unfortunately, many on this thread never witnessed the effects of 1970s style stag-flation, and the early 80s recession. The next administration will get to try and mop up the result of tariffs, inflation, and a HUGE national debt, that gets worse over the next 5/6/7 years. The next admin will not only have to clean it up, but might even get blamed for it by certain media pundits...ESPECIALLY if the opposing party gets elected. You can “bank” on it.
I’ll repost this in 7 years.

These vids mean nothing to people unless the video supports their position.
Umm, that’s kind of my point,
Whether a video gets posted of a seemingly uninformed voter/s of EITHER political stripe, shouldn’t be construed to represent the whole.
But...whatever.

Tat's a clip with two people have a conversation about him. TWO people. What does that have to do with all the millions of misguided, unsound people who voted for him?
Above quote as posted by ShirleyW to LoveUni.
It’s a good point. Anecdotal vs scientific evidence: anyone who’s been to “uni” should know the difference. An anecdotal clip between two people doesn’t represent a large cross section of voters, just as THIS clip of very clueless Trump supporters doesn’t (I hope) necessarily represent the majority of them. If it does, then we’re all fucked.

Trumpers: “Hey, my 401K is doing GREAT!!”
That’s the problem, they can’t see beyond their noses. Or...they simply don’t WANT to see that far.
Bottom line...these tax cuts are a temporary “feel-good” sugar rush. Meanwhile, the deficit is soaring out of control, and any economic stabilizers will be dried up by the next recession. This, combined with big-government, Ralph Nader style protectionism and tariffs on imports, against economic & strategic ALLIES!?! What we’re seeing is NOT conservatism. Fiscal conservatism implies limited government, disciplined SPENDING, and not dictating who trades with who. Think of all the Boeing 737s and 787s sold to overseas airlines...soon coming to a screeching halt. You like your Bimmer? Good luck affording parts for it when it goes in the shop.
All the Republicans I voted for since the 1980s were for strong defense, trade with Allies and standing up to tyrannical dictators, NOT slapping them on the back and saying how great they are. You sure as f*ck wouldn’t have caught Reagan saluting a godammed North Korean General, while telling Japan and Western Europe to piss off. Hell, why did we do the Marshall Plan?
You Trumptards are all being played, just like the “PIMI” J-dubs out there (you know the ones).

It ahould read MCGA, or MRGA...C being China, and R being Russia. Look no further than Trump’s business dealings with these countries, as well as his unwillingness to release his tax returns, as every other president in my lifetime has done.
Here, read this. These are HIS WORDS on China. No spin:
“President Xi of China, and I, are working together to give massive Chinese phone company, ZTE, a way to get back into business, fast. Too many jobs in China lost. Commerce Department has been instructed to get it done!”—-Donald J Trump
Awwww, poor CHINA!!! We need to SAVE their JOBS!! 😢 Boo hoo.
